Disclaimer
The figures on TakeHomeHQ are estimates, not tax advice. The calculators, brackets and salary-after-tax examples on this site are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute professional financial, legal, accounting or tax advice, and must not be relied upon as such.
Why the numbers are estimates
Our estimates are deliberately simplified. They use the standard deduction and employee-side FICA only, and they exclude tax credits, pre-tax deductions (such as 401(k), HSA and health premiums), itemized deductions, local and city income taxes, and any income other than wages. Federal brackets, the standard deduction, FICA rates and the Social Security wage base are the official 2026 figures; certain state rates are the most recent published amounts and a mid-year change may not yet be reflected. Your actual take-home pay will differ — sometimes substantially.
Verify with the authoritative source
Before relying on any figure, verify it with the official sources:
- Federal income tax, FICA and Medicare: the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
- The Social Security wage base: the Social Security Administration (SSA).
- State income tax: your state's Department of Revenue (linked on each state page).
For decisions about your own taxes, withholding or financial planning, consult a qualified tax professional, CPA or enrolled agent.
No warranty
While we source data from authoritative datasets and use standard formulas, figures may be out of date, incomplete or contain errors. TakeHomeHQ makes no warranty as to accuracy or completeness and accepts no responsibility for any loss arising from reliance on the site or its calculators.
