TakeHomeHQ is an independent, free reference for US salary and income tax estimates. We help you answer one practical question: "on this salary, how much do I actually take home?" Estimate your US take-home pay after federal, FICA and state taxes.

What we do

We publish a take-home pay calculator and per-state guides that estimate your salary after federal income tax, FICA (Social Security and Medicare) and state income tax for the 2026 tax year. Every page shows the brackets, the assumptions and the source it is based on — no black boxes.

How we work

All calculations come from a single versioned tax-rules dataset (currently version 2026.2) compiled from the IRS, the Social Security Administration and state Departments of Revenue. The math runs entirely in your browser; we do not collect your salary or store your inputs. See our methodology for the exact formulas, sources, and limitations.
